As with the rest of the world, we too have been following current events and are alarmed and saddened by injustice and inequality. Our little town of Forks came into the national spotlight last week. Unfortunately, it was not for the natural beauty of our area or for our connection to the “Twilight” saga. Some individuals in our town made a family of tourists feel uncomfortable and threatened. The case is still under investigation, but regardless of the outcome, their actions were unacceptable and should not be tolerated. We are confident that the instigators do not reflect the feelings or actions of most of our local citizens. In fact, many locals turned up for a rally in downtown Forks yesterday, social media is active and a group has stepped forward whose goal is to inform, educate and communicate. We are a small town, but we have problems with inequality and injustice, just like the rest of our country. It appears we have admitted to our failings and now the real work begins. We, at the Miller Tree Inn, are committed to supporting efforts of bringing injustice and inequality to an end.
In light of the current events in our town and our country, we want to make our position clear. Our policy at the Miller Tree Inn has always been to provide our guests with a sincere welcome, courtesy and respect. Hospitality is our business and ALL are welcome here.
