Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, Rialto beach was crawling with visitors. As of July 8, Third Beach near LaPush is now open! The walk to Third Beach is a little over a mile through a coastal forest and down the bluff. Once you get down to the beach, it becomes broad and sandy at low tide. I have also heard that it is a great place to hunt for agates, if you like looking for pretty rocks.
Unfortunately, Second Beach and First Beach remain closed. First Beach is within the village of LaPush and the village is currently closed to non-tribal members. The parking lot for Second Beach is also on tribal lands, so it remains closed. We admire the tribal council’s efforts to keep their residents safe and healthy during this global pandemic. We know it will have an economic impact for them and we await the opening of their beaches with great anticipation, so that we may support them when it is safe to do so.
In the meantime, Rialto Beach, Third Beach, Ruby Beach and Kalaloch Beaches 1-6 are open and ready to explore.
